Last October 14-15, our org, The Peer Facilitator’s Group had our annual team building. It was overnight but sadly, I didn’t made it during the first day because of lack of transportation and sea of people in Manila due to INC’s medical mission. So, we made it appoint that we will be there on the 2nd day because we, the seniors, are the activities’ facilitators.

image

Finally had the time and opportunity to get to know the baby peers! That’s the very quirky John Roberts Powers. Hahaha! Well, he really is John Roberts but we gave him a new nickname… Powers! (yes, that’s from the modeling school JRP. lol)

image

In which I try to be normal and went back to being me again. Lol.

image

The baby peers blindfolded while having no knowledge of us, taking pictures with them. Hee, sorry bbs!

image

The activities!

image

One of the perks of being a senior is that you don’t have to join the activities but all you have to do is to facilitate. And while they’re busy doing their assigned tasks…

image

We’re I’m trying to reunite with the hula hoop. Haha!

image

…and goofing around with Twinny.

image

…and being a fangirl. Loljk. We’re supposed to have a twinny shot with the bilaos until those two were like.. "Sama kami!" So yes, there you go.

image

…and playing with Lee’s mini camera. I love it! Though you have to guess if you’ll get the right shot or whatever. You can’t see the outcome until you view it in your phone or computer using its memory card.

image

Say hi to my hungry self. Lol.

image

Right after the activities and lunch, we had a 1 hour break so what did we do? We jammed with these boys and sang songs from high school. (e.g, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus’ Your Guardian Angel, Thunder, FM Static’s songs, etc. throwback, indeed!)

image

For the last activities we did the pasahan thinggy using the straw. And of course, what we loved the most the dugtungan of songs! The last thing we did was saying words of affirmation to each other. Touching activity that was!

image

The seniors with our very young and lovely peer adviser, Ma’am Kath. Too bad we’re not complete.

And of course… GROUP PICTURES!

Gaining new friends is awesome. They call me “ate” though! Hahaha. It makes me sad to know that in a few months, I’ll no longer be part of these activities. </3

Positive reinforcement is a major yes to psychology for it keeps us, individuals, to strive harder and to be motivated. So right after our thesis proposal defense, Grace invited us to her sister’s condo and we rewarded ourselves a sweet, sweet escape.

image

Cutey light trees along St. Francis square. ♥

image

Waited until 8 or so for Grace’s sister. While doing so, we had a cheesy-fest moment at 7/11. Hah!

image

When Grace’s sister came, we hurriedly (ok, not really) put our things in their unit, and off we go to the pool area!

image

Just by looking at that view, I swear all thesis stress got out of my system.

image

Proper swimming attire is required when you’re going to swim in the condo’s pool and as for me, who’s not used to wearing proper attires (and who doesn’t own any sort of swimsuit for that matter), Grace have to lend me her extra swimsuit. I swear, that was my first time in my whole teenage existence (yup, I used to own a polka-dotted swimsuit when I’m little. hah!), to wear a swimsuit. Take note, it is a backless and a tube one. Fortunately, there are no other people swimming and we have the whole pool area by ourselves so wearing that swimsuit is less shameful.

image

…and fortunately, I brought with me a cover up of some sort!

image

My girls. :-) Others didn’t made it so yep, it’s just the four of us.

As what I’ve mentioned before, my life’s been about juggling A LOT of responsibilities from the past months. Now, I am happily announcing that everything is accomplished! Imagine my heart leaping with joy. Hah! If you’ve been following me on my twitter account, I bet you witnessed how my life went from busy mode, assemblys, meetings and eventually embracing my social life back.

And to update you about the past months’ happenings, here you go!  The lapse that has been in a nutshell and inconsistent photo and font sizes. (yup, i’m aware of that lol)

image

Bibiliograhy gathering-slash-epic-fail-day. We weren’t able to go inside the school in which we are going to research because of schedule conflicts so we ended up having foodtrip and sticking chocolate donuts in our teeth.

image

It was my first time in a public library so imagine myself getting excited and all. But unfortunately, we found a very minimal infos about our thesis topic. It’s okay though ‘cause I got a lifetime ID card for a hundred bucks. #bookwormslittlejoys

image

Went here with the group of Ate Mel because my chiks (pardon me for using this term but they really are chiks. hah!) groupmates had their trip to the doctor.

image

What I love in San Beda’s lib is their tables! It is only for one person to avoid noise, I guess.

image

My favorite library out of all libs I’ve been to. This is the most memorable experience during our library hopping! It was my first time in DLSU and boy did I fell in love to it the second time around! (the first was when I am six. i saw it from the car’s window when we’re on our way to the province and i said to myself that i will study there. the facade is just beautiful i can’t even. hopefully, i’ll be able to study there for my MA.) I love how their library is too cozy for my life. They have couches and their library is 7 floors or so. Heaven on earth!

image

Unexpected pigging out, treats and stories. Also, I found myself often visiting my favorite bookstores and checking out their new titles but not buying anything because all of my bucks are for thesis. Why do we always do things that we know will hurt us in the end?image

Peer Facilitator’s General Assembly. Ahh, my love for this org will never falter. Good companies as always. So proud that we were able to recruit a lot of committed baby peers! They are A LOT. First ever in the history of this org.

image

Our mother org’s annual teambuilding. Seniors are the organizers of the said event so we are the ones who’s busy by facilitating, checking if everything went on plan, etc. This is also the day that I brought Park at school so while we are waiting for the event to start, we played in the high school lobby. The event went amazing!

image

And yes, let’s not forget this seminar. Being a coordinator and the master of the ceremony (at the last minute) is not an easy peasy job especially if you’ll face a hundreds of student from different universities. But thank God, we managed to make it a success. Also felt happy that I got to meet an old friend! Small world, it is.image

Finally, the proposal defense. We never expected it to be just like eating peanuts. I can remember how nervous we all are and how anxiety’s attacking us! Hah. So ecstatic that we surpassed it! We have to do revisions though, but it’s okay! We will double our efforts for the second sem.

Hay, time flies so fast. At first, I am just drowning in the sea of books and without blinking, someone saved me and got me out of it. Though, I now bid hello to social life… I still have finals this coming week and some requirements to pass. But atleast, no thesis (for 1 week only tho)

So much to blog, so little time. Watch out for the Before Eternal Summer Bucketlist update! And oh, we had our escape last Friday. It was indeed awesome! Will blog about it soon or sooner! :-)

Life has a way of making you drown in pool of confusion. When you’re happy and contented in what you already have, someone will come and will challenge you. It’s as if God is testing you if you are really true to your convictions or you are ready to fall into the enemy’s trap.

All of the feelings that are once familiar seemed like an alien now but it kept on rushing. One move and it’ll make you think if you did the right thing or you did a rather wrong thing, yet again.

Dearest Lord, I know this is one of the enemy’s way of making me break what I said to you. Lord, help me to guard my heart. Help me not to awaken love until the time is right.

Lord, please don’t give me love. Because as for now, I’m contented with you. You are what my heart is longing for and not someone’s care or invitations for a walk. Lord, please don’t give me love. Because as for now, all that I want to answer is your calling and not just another hopeful guy’s phone call. Lord, please don’t give me love and don’t let me settle for I know all of these are fleeting.

Lord, my dear Lord, guard and protect my heart.

The extremely long weekend that was.

Set thesis aside and spent the unexpected one week vacation by bumming around, sleeping, catching up with friends, and reading! We do not have internet connection during the entire days that Maring is crying and I was thankful for it because I had all the time in the world for my unread lovies. Cuddling, foodtrip and movie marathon with the family was also the highlights of my mini-vacation.

Now I’m savoring my remaining vacay because when school resume, I will face midterms and thesis. Oh boy.

image

Cinemalaya, now on its ninth year of being the most prestigious indie film festival in our country, didn’t failed the movie goers with its internationally acclaimed and award-winning films.

At last after years of missing this film festival, Twinny and I finally had the chance to watch even one of the many awesome films.

Last Thursday, we had our escape and set thesis aside. We are lucky enough that our professor in research has some engagement out of the school so off we go to the elegant and sophisticated Cultural Center of the Philippines.

image

We got there at 2:30 pm and bought our tickets. I was eager to watch Babagwa at first thinking that it would turn out just like Quark Henares’ Rakenrol but to my disappointment. I didn’t watched the trailer the days before and just had the chance when we’re in line for the tickets. I saw some scenes that are not that friendly. Heh! So Twinny and I opted to watch Ekstra instead.

image

The film was scheduled at 3:30 that day so we wandered around and let the art pieces capture our hearts to kill time.

image

image

Ekstra or The Bit Player is a very entertaining film that will bring you to the world of an ekstra and its punishing role in the making of a soap opera. This movie will expose you on how an ekstra like Loida — the character played by Ms. Vilma Santos was treated on and off the set of a location shoot.

The movie was such an eye opener and informative movie for me. I didn’t expect that behind those neat and glamorous television programs are people who barely treated well.

The director ended the film with a simple look by the main character and I can say that in that final scene alone, my 75 bucks was worth it!

image

Here’s an obligatory picture of Twinny and I outside the cultural center.

We planned to go back the next day to watch The Diplomat Hotel and Instant Mommy but unfortunately, we opted to take a rest instead. The whole experience made us decide to check all film entry next year!

And after watching the movie, we took the opportunity to visit the cafe that we’re longing for which I’ll put in a separate post. ;)

P.S Twinny and I made a bucketlist of things that we’ll do before we graduate and watching Cinemalaya is one of them! I’ll post the list soon!

P.P.S Credits to Twinny for some (most) of the photos!
